Bathroom Remodeling
Full gut remodels, walk-in and curbless shower conversions, tile, vanities and waterproofing built for Florida humidity.
First Rate Home Services remodels bathrooms and kitchens, installs tile and flooring, builds custom carpentry and handles the repairs in between — for homeowners in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin and the Pinellas beaches. Clear quotes, a real schedule, and a crew that cleans up.
Three quick questions. Most quotes booked within one business day.
Each of these has its own page with real pricing, real timelines and the actual process — not marketing adjectives.
Full gut remodels, walk-in and curbless shower conversions, tile, vanities and waterproofing built for Florida humidity.
Cabinets, countertops, backsplash and layout changes — from a cabinet-and-counter refresh to a full reconfiguration.
Tile, LVP, glue-down vinyl and stone over Florida slab — with the slab prep and crack isolation the job actually needs.
Built-ins, shelving, trim and millwork, closet systems and cabinet modifications built on site to fit your walls.
Drywall, doors, trim, rot repair, fixture swaps and the punch list you have been putting off.
Send photos and a rough idea. We'll tell you honestly what it takes, what it costs, and whether it's worth doing at all.
Ask usMost of what we do starts with a room the owner has stopped looking at — a 1970s tub surround, a shower pan that has been leaking into the subfloor for two years, a kitchen laid out for a house that no longer exists.
Drag the handle. Everything behind that tile — the framing, the pan, the waterproofing membrane — is the part that decides whether it still looks like this in ten years, and it is the part nobody photographs.
This is the whole process. There is no fifth step where the price changes.
Tell us the room and roughly what you want. Photos help. We will tell you on the phone if it is not worth doing.
Free, no obligation, and we look behind things. Most surprises are findable before demolition if someone actually looks.
Materials, labour, permit fees and a named allowance for anything hidden. One page, in plain English, with a start and end date.
One crew, one job at a time. A text when we are on the way, photos as we go, and a walkthrough before the last invoice.
Every quote we write is itemized: materials, labour, permit fees and an allowance line for anything we can't see until demolition. If we open a wall and find rot or a failed shower pan, you get a photo and a revised number before we touch it — not a surprise on the final invoice.
We take one bathroom or one kitchen at a time per crew, so your job isn't sitting idle while we chase three others. You get a start date, an end date, and a text when we're on the way.
One county, nine cities, every job inside a 30-minute drive. That is how we hold start dates and get someone out to quote the same week you call.
Most of our work comes from repeat customers and neighbor referrals across St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo and Dunedin. We're happy to put you in touch with recent customers in your area before you commit to anything — just ask when we come out to quote.
Published averages for this area range from $8,000 to $30,000 for the same room. Here's why, and what your job will actually cost.
Read the full post →Cracked grout lines and hollow-sounding tile almost always trace back to slab prep that was skipped. Here's what should have happened.
Read the full post →Tile, cabinets and paint are exempt. Water heaters, electrical and anything touching a load-bearing wall are not. The full list, plainly.
Read the full post →Most full bathroom remodels in Pinellas County land between $15,000 and $28,000 in 2026. A powder room or a cosmetic refresh that keeps the existing layout runs $6,000 to $12,000. A primary bath with a layout change or a curbless walk-in shower runs $28,000 to $45,000 and up. The single biggest cost driver is whether plumbing moves — relocating a toilet or shower drain means cutting and re-pouring slab, which adds several thousand dollars and about a week.
Plan on 4 to 7 weeks from signed quote to final walkthrough for a standard full bath. That breaks down roughly as 1–3 weeks for design and material selections, 2–4 weeks for permitting when a permit is required, and 2–5 weeks of actual construction. Cosmetic refreshes that need no permit can be done in 2 weeks.
Not always. The City of St. Petersburg exempts cabinetry, countertops, tiling, painting and similar finish work, plus replacing existing plumbing fixtures in their current location. You do need a permit for water heater replacement, most electrical work, anything that touches a load-bearing wall, and any plumbing that moves or rearranges valves and pipes. We pull the permit as part of the job when one is needed.
We carry liability insurance, and we work with licensed Florida trade contractors on all permitted electrical, plumbing and mechanical work. Ask us at the quote and we'll show you the paperwork before anything starts.
Pinellas County only — St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin, Pinellas Park, Treasure Island, St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach and Clearwater Beach. Staying inside one county is how we hold start dates — when we say Tuesday, we mean Tuesday.
No. Quotes and in-home consultations are free across Pinellas County, and there's no obligation.
